The History of Masouleh

According to documents, after Mongolians’ attack, people from different parts of Iran migrated to Masouleh district and created a unique city repre- senting the typical Islamic – Iranian city in deep Hircani jungles.

Recent excavation and archeological studies show that the cultural landscape of Masouleh had been residential partially, if not completely, since iron age til this occurance.

The historical city of Masouleh has been registered in iran cultural heritage index with the number 1090 on 1975/5/21 and it is one of the main candidates for been registered in world heritage list.
